Earth Hour: Cities around the world turn lights off

Famous landmarks in cities such as Paris, Moscow, Athens, Rome, Berlin and Rio de Janeiro have turned off their lights to raise awareness of environmental issues.

Earth Hour is an annual global event organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature.

This year’s event highlights the link between the destruction of nature and increasing outbreaks of diseases like Covid-19.
